Cultural Scenarios Guide
Cultural Scenarios let you practice handling real-world intercultural workplace situations. Each country has 20 scenario-based questions that challenge you to interpret cultural behaviours correctly — a hands-on way to build cultural intelligence.
How It Works
- Navigate to Cultural Scenarios from the Tools Dashboard
- Browse 60 countries using the region filter tabs or search bar
- Select a country to start its scenario set
- Read each scenario carefully — it describes a puzzling workplace situation
- Choose the best interpretation from four options
- Get immediate feedback with a cultural explanation
The Scenario Format
Each scenario follows this structure:
- Situation — A realistic workplace encounter that might puzzle a foreigner
- Question — "Why did this happen?" or "What's the best interpretation?"
- Four Answers — Only one captures the cultural logic correctly
- Explanation — After answering, learn the deeper cultural reasoning
Tips for Getting the Most Out of Scenarios
- Don't rush — take time to think about each scenario before answering
- If you get one wrong, read the explanation carefully — that's where the real learning happens
- Try scenarios for countries you work with frequently
- Revisit scenarios after reading the Country Brief for that country — you'll likely score higher
- Each country has exactly 20 scenarios, taking roughly 20 minutes to complete
Scoring
After completing all 20 scenarios for a country, you'll see your score. Aim for improvement over time rather than a perfect score on the first attempt — cultural intelligence develops with practice.
